The Club's Responsibilities

  • The welfare of every junior member of the Plymstock Road Runners is important to the club. We have a duty of care to protect all child members from harm.
  • All child members - whatever their age, culture, disability, gender or beliefs have the right to protection from the risk of abuse through adherence to the Child Protection guidelines set by Plymstock Road Runners.
  • To promote running as a sport, to make it an enjoyable experience in a safe learning environment.
  • Treat all junior members equally and with respect and dignity.
  • Recognise the developmental needs and capacity of the children.
  • The club will ensure that all groups containing junior members will be adequately supervised during the session.
  • The club will ensure that all members who train/supervise junior members will have been subject to checks regarding their suitability for the role.
  • Any photographs taken/published will solely be to promote the club or achievements of its junior members. Plymstock Road Runners will respect the wishes of any parent/guardian of a junior member who do not want their children photographed.

Parental Responsibilities

  • I will ensure that my child is brought to the junior session and collected from the session by either myself or the person(s) I have nominated on the Junior Section Membership Application Form.
  • I will not bring my child to any running sessions if he/she is unwell, injured or receiving medication. I accept that the Junior Trainer can be asked for advice in respect of this and that it is not the responsibility of Plymstock Road Runners to ensure that my child is fit to take part in the exercise.
  • I will immediately report any concerns that I may have about the running sessions or associated matters to the Junior Trainer, Child Protection Officer or to a committee member.
  • I will ensure that my child is dressed in light colours during running sessions and reflective top on dark evenings. I will ensure that my child's footwear is suitable for the exercise. I note that advice can be obtained from the club.
  • I accept that if my child is reported for unruly behaviour that he/she may be banned from running with the club in future. I further accept that the Club's decision in respect of these matters is final.
  • I will not bring other children as "A Guest" of my child to the Club sessions.

Parents will be expected to sign a form similar to the one below when their child joins the club. It is reproduced here for information only.

I WILL NOT HOLD THE PLYMSTOCK ROAD RUNNERS CLUB OR ANY OF ITS MEMBERS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURY ILLNESS OR ACCIDENT SUSTAINED DURING ANY JUNIOR RUNNING SESSION OR COMPETITION BY MY CHILD WHATEVER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

I understand and accept that Plymstock Road Runners undertakes all safeguards that it can for the well-being of my child.

Membership Form

For your peace of mind, the clubs coaches and assistants have all had a background check, and no one who is not checked is allowed into the gym during these sessions.
